Learning that starts in the hands
Three- and four-year-olds learn by doing. Here is what early learning usually covers. The school will describe its own programme and groups.

Six areas of early learning
These are general areas used by many early-years programmes. They are not a description of this school's curriculum.
Everyday life skills
Pouring water, buttoning, carrying a tray, tidying up. Small jobs build independence and steady hands.
The senses
Rough and smooth, loud and soft, heavy and light. Sorting and matching sharpen attention.
Talking, listening and early letters
Songs, rhymes, stories and lots of conversation, in English and in Hindi at home. Letters come when children are ready.
Early numbers
Counting real things, comparing more and less, spotting patterns. Numbers make sense when you can hold them.
The world around us
Plants, weather, animals, festivals and the neighbourhood. Children learn by noticing.
Art, music and movement
Painting, clay, music, dance and outdoor play. Big movements help small, careful ones later.
